Apparently, this is what Buick thought “VIP” meant in 2000.
A bike rack, 18" wheels, some red paint on the interior, a file-o-fax, and...coffee mugs?
I always had a feeling these Park Avenues came from the factory with cracked leather.
They did try it again in 2006 and got the style more correct, albeit with help from RIDES, you know that tuner TV show from back then hosted by the young guy from Overhaulin’ ?
Let the record state that I would gladly own either one of these concepts.

I would do awful things for that Park Avenue. Nice rims, slight suspension drop and wonderful color. I’m old, I’d appreciate very much.

Palm Pilot, coffee, and a screen to keep the bike unmolested by bugs? I mean... it’s not entirely without merit.

That aero cover for the bicycle is so sweet and outrageous, I’m surprised it hasn’t become a thing in the stance scene.

O H MY GOD I NEED IT ALL.
That Park Avenue Ultra looks lowered slightly. That Lucerne has a V8, as well. Fuckin COOL.

Meanwhile here’s Plymouth’s definition of VIP.

Uh.
1. That’s red candy tintcoat. That paint is
fucking expensive.
It’s more expensive than White Diamond Pearl.
2. That’s based on a Park Avenue Ultra with a not-detuned 3800 Supercharged.
3. That’s a Palm Pilot VII
. They were THE “I am TRULY elite” tech item in 2000. If you were one of the lucky ones with a cell phone, you had a Nokia 3310 or 3210.
3a. The VII was the most expensive Palm
period
. $599 at introduction
plus
a minimum of $15 per month for the mandatory Palm.net service. Which could jump to more than $500 per month if you needed more than a few web pages.
4. That’s a pre-Monsoon stereo. It’s equivalent to the later Monsoons. At the time, they were considered the best factory stereo available. Even better than the Chrysler Infinity III system (which was one of the first with external CD changer support
.)
The sticker on an ‘00 Park Avenue Ultra started at $37,160 before delivery, with that paint being a $1499 option. On the normal one. These were NOT cheap cars. The bike rack is a standard accessory, but the shroud is not. Adjusted for inflation, one of these would have easily priced out over $60 ,000.
So yeah. Pretty damn VIP.

Looks like a Dominos car.

That Park Avenue would be a sweet ride.

I just learned a lot of information about an early 2000s hunchback Buick sedan I didn’t really need.

Honestly, having worked on them when new, they’re really great cars as long as you aren’t expecting a sports car. No qualifiers beyond that. The seats look meh, but are amazingly comfortable. The build quality is excellent. The reliability is off the charts. The 3800 supercharged provides ample power, and the automatic transmission is perfect for daily driving and just cruising.
Fuel mileage is ass of course, but nobody’s perfect.

But what’s the importance of the coffee mug?

Shh!
I keep thinking it’d be cool to open a side business of making aluminum roof boxes. Think Yakima/Thule, but made to look like part of a pre-WWII airplane, complete with rivets.
Of course I need to learn to work with aluminum first...

I think I might still have my old Palm VII from back in the day. Does that make me a retro VIP?

Maybe they were real expensive ones

Not usually a fan of painted interior parts, but that interior pulls it off.
10/10 would daily that car and love every second of it!

They sure didn’t know cyclists, not really their kind of car from what I see of these people who block lanes on my mountain and coastal roads.

The bike is also like another $2500.
